AMANDA ELENA
Objects have an innate significance to human culture as an indication of both our population and personal identity. I am exploring the means and extent of which we as humans determine our value through the accumulation of objects. Crucial to these ideologies is the understanding that objects are omnipotent in life affecting culture and individual.
Work
Painting
My work consists of a series of on going oil paintings investigating the process of painting as meditation and reflection of personal idenity. Often idenity is skewed through years of accumulated emotion and object, this concept is expored through addition and accumulation of paint and mark.
Installation
My installation practice is my newest adventure and one that I am currently developing further through the use of new mediums. In my installation are scenes of life from the creatures that I create
Puppets
In a more light-hearted and experimental part of my artistic practice the creation of puppets is a way for me to investigate the practical and and more abstract aspects of my larger works
Sculpture
My sculptures are gestures and are singular in nature. Mainly constructed from found objects my sculptures are generally a bi-product of my travels.
